Art 2 Part 2006 - A Resounding Success! (Part A)

Thank you for joining us at Art 2 Part 2006, on 15th September 2006 at Amara Hotel. It had been a day packed with product launches, breakout seminars and great food! We would like to thank our partners, customers and attendees for making this event a huge success!

Here is a brief overview of what went on during the event. 

Engineering Frontiers 1 - NUS FSAE Race Team (Associate Professor Seah Kar-Heng)

A/P Seah and Mr Jeff Tang from the National University of Singapore kicked off the entire seminar by sharing with the attendees on how SolidWorks and COSMOSWorks played a vital part in the design of the FSAE race car which won top awards at the recently concluded FSAE competition. It was an impressive presentation which kept all of us on the edge of our seats!

Engineering Frontiers 2 - SolidWorks Triumphs at Simtex Mechatronic! (Mr Tan Kee Chow)

Mr Tan Kee Chow, Technical Manager of Simtex Mechatronic, gave an insightful presentation on the use of SolidWorks in design of roof trusses, hydraulic presses, lifting systems and roof systems with Weldments technology.

Engineering Frontiers 3 - Contemporary Design in SolidWorks (Mr Lucas Burrows)

Mr Lucas Burrows from Raffles Design Institute shared with the audience on how SolidWorks has revolutionized 3D design. During his presentation, he wowed the audience with various works done by the students in Raffles Design Institute. It is amazing to know how students who have spent just 6 months at the Institute can come up with such top-notch designs in SolidWorks.

SolidWorks 2007 What’s New! (Ms Smita Panga / Ms Deng Shumin)

For the main event of Art 2 Part 2006, Ms Smita Panga and Ms Deng Shumin walked us through some of the 250+ enhancements in SolidWorks 2007 and COSMOSWorks 2007. Some of these enhancements include:

  • Easy creation of belts in pulleys mechanisms
  • Multiple Mates / Rack and Pinion Mates.
  • SWIFT : FilletXpert / DraftXpert / DimensionXpert / SketchXpert

PDMWorks Enterprise Product Launch (Mr James Lee)

Mr James Lee walked us through the enterprise level product data management (PDM) solution, PDMWorks Enterprise. James showed us how PDMWorks Enterprise is uniquely suited to the needs of large, distributed design teams and how this new product can help our organizations manage and share product data more effectively, to create better products in less time.

3DQuickMold Product Launch (Dr Ling Le-Shu)

Dr Ling Le-Shu, the R&D Director (Mold Div) of 3DQuickTools, did a product launch of 3DQuickMold. 3DQuickMold is a professional plastic mold design solution which is fully integrated with SolidWorks. This is the first time that 3DQuickMold is shown in this region.

SolidWorks IDF Modeler (Mr Brian Watson)

Mr Brian Watson, Managing Director of Desktop EDA gave us an overview of the SolidWorks IDF Modeler. The SolidWorks IDF 3D Modeler is a bi-directional translator between SolidWorks and IDF. Brian showed us how PCB design data done in ECAD applications can be shared with MCAD systems (e.g. SolidWorks).

Ms Sharon Toh, Channel Vice President from iKnowledge Solutions shared with us how i.get.it has revolutionized learning in today’s knowledge-based economy. i.get.it. provides online instruction for today’s MCAD/PLM applications. It is a complete learning management tool suited for large corporations, small companies and individuals.
